Feline Forgetfulness

Do cats remember?
(As they rub and purr)
Can they tell August from September
(As they sleep so sure)
Their little cat eyes shine
And is that a wink?
They seem so defenseless
Do they ponder and think?

Little house cats are related
To big cats in the wild
Tigers aren't defenseless
They get quite mad when riled!
Lions rule the jungle
And cats rule every home in which they stay
Do they remember what they bungle?
As they sleep right through the day?

Do cats remember?
(As they rub and dribble)
How do their little cat brains work?
(As their nighttime meals they nibble)
Their little cat eyes shine
Do they accept their role as pet.
Is instinct or intuition
The only part of their kitty lives set?

Do cats remember?
(As they rub and purr)
Do they understand what's going on?
(As they sleep so soft and sure)
